Amazon have been working on South Australia’s first disaster relief hub, becoming their fifth in Australia, which will enable their staff to quickly support nonprofit charity partners to deliver and distribute thousands of supplies to communities in need.
When disaster hits, fast action is a must. Having locations in each state provides more effective relief for those in need, meaning South Australia will be covered for essential products when crisis hits.
Salisbury Council is profoundly grateful to Amazon Australia for their commitment to our community and beyond.
The establishment of the Disaster Relief Hub in Salisbury is testament to their compassion and dedication to aiding our residents as well as the broader community of South Australia and the Northern Territory during times of need.
This initiative not only showcases their corporate responsibility but also exemplifies the spirit of unity that defines our city. Together, we stand stronger in the face of challenges.
The event was very interesting, as we learned what goes into a disaster relief pack, the work behind the scenes to get them packed and sent, and the 72-hour timeframe in which Amazon commits to getting them delivered.
It was fantastic to also hear some words from Joe Szakacs MP, Tony Zappia MP, Evelyn O’loughlin – CEO of St Vincent De Paul Society, Greg Pattinson – CEO of Foodbank SA, and Charlotte Richardson from Amazon Australia.
