Salisbury North

History Salisbury North 1955

Salisbury North supplied milk to the local residents and was renowned for its dairy cattle with several farmers raising prize cattle and sheep. Soon after World War II many people migrated from the United Kingdom and Europe to start a new life. In late 1949 the Housing Trust began developing Salisbury North and by June 1955, 1074 houses had been built. Most of these houses were rented to employees of the Long Range Weapons Establishment while others built their own which created a diverse residential environment.
