Para Hills Community Hub Playground

Para Hills Community Club November 2022 008 1000x1000

This great playground right by the Para Hills Community Hub at Prettejohn Gully Reserve was revamped in 2020 and has a nifty range of modern play equipment and a good sized carpark right beside it.

If a snack is in order, there is a major supermarket right next door too making for a convenient pit stop for a fun outing and a bit of sun. Enter via Wilkinson Road to park. The playground is fully fenced with safety latch and has a convenient shaded picnic area where parents can rest while the kids run about. Ahead of the picnic table is the sandpit with a variety of pulleys, buckets, and other unusual instruments to encourage creative ways to play with sand. Straight past the sandpit is a little path down to a plastic drum and instrument set for those who like to get a bit rhythmic.

Parents and carers can watch over the kids. Of course, the main attractions are the equipment that sit on the rubberised flooring right beside the sandpit and drums. First there is a swing set with three types of swings, including a round swing and one suitable for the smallest of playground goers. A double spring rocker sits beside these for those who’d like to stay closer to the ground. Past this is an activity box structure that allows for climbing, monkey bar action and some colourful spinning balls for interest. Under the large sail is the main equipment. Kids can scramble up the mock rock climbing slope up to the second platform where they can spin a red wheel as they look out over the area. Up one step, they can slide down the pole or ride the wavy blue slide back down to the bottom. Beneath the top platform is also a mock shop front for those who like to imagine and dream about future business ventures.

Older kids may choose to fly back and forth on the flying fox while younger ones may prefer to stick to the smaller set of equipment where they can play tic-tac-toe with the spinning game blocks or try out the mini slide. In front of the slides is a mini carousel for those who’d like to spin around. The playground is open at all times, but toilets need to be accessed through the hub and are available from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 2pm on Saturday. Note that it is strictly a playground area and not suitable for pets.
