Discover Salisbury with the click of a button

An initiative from the City of Salisbury Tourism and Visitor Strategy 2016 – 2021, Discover Salisbury gives you all of the city’s culture, events, attractions and family fun at your fingertips.

With brand new artwork, maps, and access on your social media channels, it’s now even easier to find out what’s happening in and around the local area.

A user-friendly calendar on the website acts as a go-to guide for what’s on, including family fun days, arts events and exhibitions.

One of the events listed on the calendar is the Fragments Exhibition, a free event showcasing the work of three different artists: Riaghan Waters, Thomas Readett and Alex M. Beckinsale.

Exploring specific themes of identity, Fragments portrays, through snapshot photography, how our personal identity is shaped by influences, like the knowledge of our ancestors and their cultural narratives.

Emerging local artist Alex M. Beckinsale says the event showing at John Harvey Gallery in Salisbury is part of the strong creative culture in the area.

“I’ve been working as an art teacher in the northern suburbs for the past six years, which has meant I’ve been involved in and seen what impact the arts has on younger people around the Salisbury area,” she said. “There is definitely a strong creative passion in these individuals, and I believe this love for creativity and expression is reflected in the community at large.”

As well as being online, the Discover Salisbury guide will be included in every Salisbury Aware edition, so you can keep up with what’s on and where when you need it.

As well as arts lovers, Discover Salisbury has something for everyone: from transport enthusiasts who can check out the Adelaide Tramway Museum, stargazers who will love what the Planetarium has to offer, to nature lovers who can lose themselves at the Adelaide International Bird Sanctuary.

“Discover Salisbury is a fantastic initiative to promote the local tourism and visitor attractions we have located within the City of Salisbury. People living within the City of Salisbury can ‘discover’ what is in their local area and the events provide an opportunity to bring visitors outside of the City of Salisbury, to showcase local food, businesses and a variety of destinations”,  says Mayor Gillian Aldridge.

Discover Salisbury can help promote public events being held in City of Salisbury. You can register your event for inclusion on our events calendar.
